About the Role As a Manufacturing Welding Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority for automated joining and assembly processes within our body shop environment. You will drive operational excellence by optimizing robotic systems, enhancing process reliability, and leading cross-functional initiatives to improve production quality and throughput. Responsibilities Lead the integration, commissioning, and validation of advanced robotic welding and adhesive dispensing systems to ensure seamless production launches. Apply structured root-cause analysis to resolve complex joining issues and implement sustainable process improvements. Manage comprehensive change control processes for mechanical joining, sealing, and robotic automation equipment. Develop and execute predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and performance. Analyze metallurgical data and weld monitoring reports to ensure strict adherence to engineering standards and quality benchmarks. Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and production teams to champion safety, ergonomics, and continuous improvement projects. Maintain precise technical documentation, including weld data sheets, gauge records, and process control plans. Qualifications Required Skills Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical field. Solid understanding of applied mechanics, electricity, thermodynamics, and manufacturing automation. Proficiency in interpreting complex electrical schematics and mechanical engineering drawings. Strong project management skills with the ability to lead technical initiatives independently. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and rigorous process compliance. Preferred Skills Direct experience in automotive body shop manufacturing environments. Hands-on expertise with Fanuc robotic systems and automated control architectures. Technical knowledge of resistance spot welding, laser brazing, and self-piercing rivet applications. Experience with factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) protocols.
