Job Description

Summary:
The Welding Supervisor is responsible for ensuring all employees are appropriately qualified and weld in accordance with approved welding procedures in the shop and field. They are also responsible for ensuring the CWB/AWS requirements are understood and practices are in place to maintain certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Understands and administers requirements for shop training and certification, welder testing, and procedure testing of all probationary and qualified welders Coordinates and schedules all qualifications test In conjunction with Quality, maintains all records pertaining to qualified welding employees Understand the requirements of the fabrication standard including inspection of welded product, general fabrication practices, base metal preparation, and joint tolerances, etc. Understands and administers the requirements for prequalification and the qualification of welding procedures Understands the features and application of welding procedure data sheets Identification of the causes of welding discontinuities Assists in the correction plans and activities involved in correcting welding discontinuities Determines requirements and implements quality control practices related to welding and common inspection methods Generates non-conformance reports as required Educates welders on their responsibilities as defined by AWS/CWB Conducts audits ensuring welding quality standards are met Manage relationships with AWS/CWB and ensure compliance issues are resolved Evaluates the effectiveness of the program on a regular basis ensuring that welding quality concerns and issues are identified and controlled Performs other work/tasks/duties assigned over the course of employment as deemed necessary to support the needs of the business which are not listed above. Work/tasks will be assigned through the employee's manager/immediate supervisor or by senior leadership. Basic understanding of welding metallurgy and base materials including their weldability characteristics, as well as an understanding of welding filler metal types and characteristics. This also requires a basic knowledge of material testing and material specifications The Welding Supervisor shall be knowledgeable in increasing welding productivity by using proper weld sizing, accurate fit-ups, effective weld station design, proper use of welders, and the elimination of rework and scrap Understand and interpret drawings and specifications Knowledge in welding symbols, welding definitions and terminology Help create the culture and environment that is good for the company and align with our values. Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Pay:
$90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
