This position will support manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives while helping ensure products meet customer specifications and applicable quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in a metal manufacturing environment, preferably within a lean manufacturing setting. A strong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement is essential. Key Responsibilities Review and disposition non-conforming, off-standard, and referred materials. Provide metallurgical engineering support to manufacturing and quality operations. Investigate metallurgical issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Ensure affected materials are properly identified, documented, and controlled within applicable quality systems. Support compliance with quality management system requirements. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to resolve technical issues. Develop and improve processing methods for new and existing products. Review customer specifications, technical requirements, and inquiries for new products. Apply metallurgical principles and statistical methods to solve production and quality problems. Support SPC, Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and other continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with process improvement projects and identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity. Provide technical training, education, and guidance to employees, customers, and other stakeholders as needed. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members and cross-functional partners. Identify and communicate technical risks and recommend appropriate actions. Complete special projects and other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred. An Associate degree combined with relevant experience may be considered. 0-5 years of experience in metallurgy, materials engineering, or a related technical field. Experience in a metal manufacturing or industrial production environment preferred. Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations and working directly with production teams. Strong understanding of metallurgical principles, testing methods, standards, and manufacturing processes. Knowledge of metallurgical and production equipment. Familiarity with SPC, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies. Ability to analyze technical issues, identify risks, and develop practical solutions. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
