Job Description
Responsible for the development of Automotive Soft Trim Materials (fabrics, synthetic skins, carpeting, leather, etc.) for Stellantis vehicle applications; Responsible for working closely with Design Office, Product Engineers, sub-tier suppliers and materials suppliers in the formulation, development and specification of materials as well as integration into vehicle applications. Knowledge of vehicle materials is a must for this position. The engineer will also be responsible for approving production suppliers and managing short and long term materials development programs. In addition, the engineer will be responsible for the development of materials, processes, and preferred practices for vehicle applications. The engineer is responsible for maintaining materials specifications for their respective area and for the development of long term strategies for vehicle material technology to achieve corporate objectives.
Background with OEM, Tier one Seating, trim supplier a plus.
Must excel in a team environment, including shared team responsibilitiesMust exhibit strong oral and written communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, and strong planning skills.
Must be able to work independently.
Strong leadership and interpersonal (soft people) skills.
Ability to summarize and present work to cross functional teams as well as senior management.
The ability to develop long term strategies for vehicle materials to achieve corporate objectives.
Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Office applications
OEM Materials Engineering experience with a concentration on the development of seating, flooring or wrapped trim materials.
Urethane foam formulation experience also a plus.
Program management capability to organize short- and long-term materials development programs, coordinate efforts between Materials Engineering and Platform Engineering, Quality, Product Design Studios and Manufacturing; Assist in the development and establishment of materials & processes preferred practices for interior systems a plus. Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Textile, Materials Engineering or Material SciencesA minimum of 5 years materials engineering experience with seating or soft trim materials; Materials & application development, specification and product support.Background with OEM, Tier one Seating, trim supplier a plus.

Master's in Textile or Materials Engineering, Material Science from an ABET accredited UniversityExtensive experience with material formulation and development of fabric, leather and/or synthetic skin materials at an automotive material supplier and/or tier one supplier a plus.OEM Materials Engineering experience with a concentration on the development of seating, flooring or wrapped trim materials.
