4 About the Position We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) for a 1st-shift, temp-to-hire opportunity in Omaha, Nebraska. This position combines hands-on welding, weld inspection, quality control, employee training, and welding process oversight. The CWI will help ensure that all welding work meets AWS standards, customer requirements, and approved welding procedures. PM Friday:
6:00 AM-12:00 PM Paid 30-minute lunch Key Responsibilities Perform welding and inspect completed welds for quality and compliance. Inspect welding equipment, machines, fixtures, and welding processes. Set up and operate welding equipment, including GMAW welding machines, spot welders, and robotic welders. Develop and maintain WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Records). Help develop welding procedures, work instructions, and process improvements. Conduct internal welding audits and assist with external audits. Ensure welding activities meet AWS standards and customer specifications. Administer weld tests for prospective welding employees. Provide hands-on and on-the-job training to new and existing employees. Verify that new and existing parts are produced according to approved welding procedures. Assist Project Management with customer-specific welding requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications. Perform grinding and general metal fabrication work as needed. Perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment and tools. Work independently while also collaborating with the welding and production teams. Required Qualifications Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required. Minimum 5 years of welding experience. High school diploma or equivalent. GMAW welding experience, including welding station setup. Experience working with WPS and welding procedures. Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings. Experience using direct-reading measuring tools. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Ability to operate a forklift and obtain forklift certification. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited welding program. Additional AWS certifications or ability to obtain additional AWS certification. Physical Requirements Frequently stand and walk throughout the workday. Frequently bend, reach, squat, and kneel. Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently. Lift and carry up to 100 lbs. occasionally. Wear required welding and safety PPE.
