About the Opportunity PrideNow is seeking a Technical Buyer for our client, a global manufacturer of highly engineered capital equipment serving the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. This position will support the Purchasing and Engineering teams by sourcing engineered components and services while ensuring projects stay on schedule, within budget, and aligned with technical and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is a technical procurement professional who understands the engineering work behind the products they purchase and can confidently work with engineering drawings, machining requirements, suppliers, and project schedules. Key Responsibilities Source engineered components, fabricated parts, machined components, and services for capital equipment projects. Develop RFQs and obtain competitive supplier quotations. Review technical bids and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, technical requirements, and delivery. Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, BOMs, specifications, and engineering changes . Work directly with engineers and suppliers to clarify technical requirements and resolve supplier questions. Apply knowledge of machining tolerances, materials, surface finishes, coatings, and fabrication requirements when evaluating purchased components. Coordinate supplier deliveries and manage capital equipment project schedules and long-lead items . Place and maintain purchase orders while monitoring schedules and shortages. Track supplier performance, including quality and on-time delivery. Investigate supplier delays, lead-time issues, and other problems affecting project schedules. Manage supplier non-conformances, including corrective actions, returns, rework, and back charges. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers. Develop and maintain relationships with machine shops, fabricators, OEMs, and other technical suppliers. Support supplier qualification, development, and performance improvement initiatives. Participate in supplier visits and audits to evaluate capability, capacity, and quality. Identify opportunities for cost reduction and purchasing process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to support successful equipment builds and customer requirements. Qualifications 3-7+ years of technical buying or procurement experience in a manufacturing, industrial, capital equipment, or similar environment. Experience purchasing engineered or custom-manufactured components . Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications . Understanding of machining tolerances and fabrication requirements. Experience working with capital equipment schedules and/or long-lead components . Experience with RFQs, supplier evaluation, qualification, and negotiation. Experience working with machine shops, steel fabricators, OEMs, or other technical suppliers. Knowledge of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys. Experience working with BOMs, specification sheets, and engineering changes. Experience using an ERP/MRP system such as SAP, Oracle, Infor, or similar. Strong supplier relationship management and negotiation skills. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work directly with engineering teams to clarify specifications and resolve technical issues.
