The Omya Technology Center in Cincinnati (OTCC), Omya's regional innovation hub for the Americas, is filled with a multidisciplinary group of scientists and researchers. Cutting edge laboratory research requires integration of software tools with benchwork to facilitate and increase our knowledge from experimental results. The co-op will become familiar with software (such as failure analysis, statistical analysis and/or formulation design) to improve experimental efficiency, capture meaningful trends from data sets, and provide more advanced analysis for an innovative materials science project.
BASIC FUNCTION
As a Co-Op, you will apply highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in performing complicated physical and/or chemical analyses on calcium carbonate or products containing calcium carbonate according to established and experimental laboratory methods. Use advanced analytical and area specific instrumentation as well as industry specific processing methods. Responsible for logging in samples, entering data, and reporting data.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Laboratory Duties Perform advanced and non-routine application tests and analysis using a variety of analytical techniques (e. g. particle size analysis, rheometers, spectroscopy, etc.). Participate in designing experiments / tests. Estimate the resources and time required to conduct an experiment / test and monitor performance to ensure these targets are met.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or Material Science. Able to work on multiple projects under deadlines and be prepared to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities, communicate and work effectively with other team members.
