STI ) core business includes manufacturing of next-generation battery materials and components, as well as development and production of next-generation batteries for energy storage, including UPS systems serving the artificial intelligence (AI) data center market and electric vehicles applications. The Company holds 345+ patents, covering innovations such as high-capacity, silane gas free and graphene-enabled silicon anodes, biomass-based graphite, advanced lithium-sulfur and lithium-metal technologies. We are looking to fill a Solid-State Battery Scientist position in the Dayton, Ohio facility, you will be working on research, development and testing of batteries and battery components and will include the following job responsibilities: • Guide semi-solid and solid-state electrolyte (ceramics/polymer) development • Examine new solid-state electrolytes employed in batteries Define protocols and SOPs for lithium-ion battery R D and production purposes Design experiments and test batteries Collect, evaluate, and present battery performance and cycle life data from testing equipment Identify/troubleshoot the root causes when the prototype battery fails Lead grant application for potential funding opportunities and prepare technical reports and proposals Dispose of waste materials appropriately; enforce all safety and PPE guidelines Develop novel battery manufacturing processes that enable full use of our materials, technology, and Intellectual Property Design manufacturing processes to scale battery prototypes into production while considering cost, performance, manufacturability, and quality Solve technical and engineering challenges with innovative approaches in materials handling, engineering approaches, chemistry, and testing, etc. Direct and lead the product scale-up and commercialization of energy storage and nanomaterial-related products developed Qualified candidates should bring hands-on experience, as well as: Ph.D. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or related fields; Master's degree acceptable with commensurate work experience Five plus years' experience in manufacturing engineering (desirable) Two plus years' experience in a commercial battery manufacturing environment with experience in design, assembly, and testing of pouch cells (desirable) In-depth knowledge of product design and development related to material or battery technology Hands-on experience with complex project management Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills Excellent organizational and time-management skills Proactive problem solver Attention to details Familiar with polymer materials is a plus Competitive and full benefits available.
