We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support welding quality, process compliance, and continuous improvement within an automotive manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience inspecting welded assemblies, identifying weld defects, reviewing welding procedures, and working closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve welding-related issues. Responsibilities Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welded components and assemblies Verify weld quality against applicable drawings, specifications, procedures, and quality standards Identify weld defects, nonconformances, and process concerns Support root cause analysis and corrective action using 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone methodologies Review and support welding procedures, process parameters, and inspection requirements Work closely with Weld Engineering and production teams to improve welding quality Support robotic welding operations and troubleshoot weld-quality concerns Utilize cut-and-etch inspection methods to evaluate weld penetration and quality Document inspection results, defects, corrective actions, and quality findings Assist with welder qualification and welding training as needed Monitor welding equipment and processes for compliance with established standards Support continuous improvement initiatives related to weld quality and manufacturing efficiency Stop production when defective or unsafe welding conditions are identified Participate in audits, quality reviews, and customer-related investigations as required Qualifications Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required Previous welding inspection experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred Experience with robotic welding systems preferred Strong understanding of welding processes, weld defects, inspection techniques, and quality standards Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and specifications Experience with
MIG/GMAW
