Job Description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) Instructor to deliver an intensive, one-week training program for a cross-functional group of manufacturing professionals at an on-site industrial manufacturing facility. The training will support a workforce involved in the design and fabrication of welded tanks and structural assemblies. Participants will include engineers, welders, machinists, and assembly personnel. The goal of this training is to improve understanding and application of GD&T principles to resolve ongoing issues with component fit-up, alignment, and overall product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver a comprehensive GD&T training program tailored to a mixed-experience industrial audience Teach both fundamental theory and practical, real-world application of GD&T principles Translate engineering drawings and tolerancing concepts into actionable guidance for shop floor personnel Incorporate hands-on exercises, examples, and case studies relevant to welded structures and assemblies Address common manufacturing challenges such as misalignment, tolerance stack-up, and fitment issues Facilitate interactive discussions to bridge communication between engineering and production teams Evaluate participant understanding and provide feedback/recommendations for continued improvement
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise in GD&T standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5) Proven experience applying GD&T in a manufacturing environment (preferably involving welded structures or heavy fabrication) Prior experience teaching or delivering technical training to adult learners in industry Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both engineers and skilled trades personnel Hands-on experience with machining, welding, fabrication, or assembly processes Ability to customize training content based on real company drawings and challenges
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in GD&T (e.g., ASME GDTP Senior Level or equivalent) Background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field Experience working with large assemblies, tanks, or structural systems Familiarity with tolerance stack-up analysis and root cause problem-solving
Deliverables:
Customized training materials (presentations, exercises, reference guides) On-site instruction for a full one-week course Practical workshops using real or representative company components/drawings Post-training summary with recommendations for improving GD&T implementation
