The pay is between $26 - $30 per hour experience dependent. This is a full-time, on-site position. The schedule is Monday - Friday on 1st shift. Position Summary The Welding Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering hands-on training for new and current employees in welding and cutting processes. This role ensures welders are trained and qualified to company standards while promoting safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The Welding Instructor also supports welding procedure qualification, equipment maintenance, and process optimization. Key Responsibilities Provide hands-on training to new and current employees in FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma cutting, oxyfuel cutting, and air carbon arc gouging processes. Conduct classroom instruction on welding safety, welding and cutting processes, visual weld acceptance criteria, welding symbols, blueprint reading, and related topics. Inspect welds to verify compliance with quality standards and Welding Procedure Specifications. Maintain welder training, testing, qualification, and continuity records. Troubleshoot welding techniques and routine equipment issues within the weld training area. Ensure compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications, applicable welding codes, and company safety policies. Demonstrate proficiency in fillet welds (1F, 2F, 3F, and 4F positions) and groove welds (1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G positions). Perform routine maintenance activities, including welding equipment calibration and flux oven log management. Evaluate, recommend, and implement welding process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity. Assist with the qualification and documentation of Welding Procedure Specifications as required. Participate in welding improvement initiatives and support additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 3-5 years of hands-on experience with FCAW, SAW, and SMAW welding processes. Experience using weld inspection equipment, including amp, volt, wire feed, gas flow meters, fillet weld gauges, undercut gauges, and other inspection tools. Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, Welding Procedure Specifications, engineering drawings, work instructions, and bills of materials. Working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ABS, or other applicable welding codes and standards. Knowledge of weld filler metals and base materials. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively train and mentor employees. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to safety and quality. Reliable attendance, positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday. Frequently lift and move welding materials and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and welding fumes while wearing required personal protective equipment. Ability to demonstrate welding techniques and operate welding equipment for extended periods.
