2026-1810-15 S&ME is looking for a hard-working, full-time Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineering Technician ready for hands-on learning to join our Construction Services team in Chattanooga, Tennessee.About The Role:
As an entry-level Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you enjoy starting your day outdoors and take pride in hands-on work that impacts the projects you work on. Begin with concrete sampling and testing, then expand into soils, asphalt, and masonry as you grow.Earn While You Learn :

Enjoy working outside year-round in changing conditions, with new sites and crews keeping things fresh.Testing & Documentation :
Perform field and lab tests, maintain equipment, and ensure accurate, complete reporting.Inspections & Standards :
Conduct inspections per IBC codes, document findings, and manage data using Metafield®. Field Work, Schedule & Travel This position is primarily based outdoors on active construction sites throughout Georgia. Work schedules may vary based on project needs and weather conditions and can include early mornings, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and overtime opportunities paid at time-and-a-half. Some travel may be required to support projects across the region. Using company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), you should be comfortable: Working outdoors in varying weather conditions Traveling to project sites as needed Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for extended periods, potentially up to 12 hours per day Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50 pounds of equipment and materials Safely maneuvering field equipment around active construction sitesAbout You:
You have a High School diploma/GED You bring curiosity and the willingness to learn; obtaining certifications is part of your growth You have a strong work ethic and a team mindset You have strong attention to detail and effective communication skills in English, including speaking, reading, and writing You have basic math skills with an understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure You understand a fluctuating weekly schedule and occasional travel You have a valid U.S. driver's license or an International Driving Permit (IDP) valid for driving in the United States, with an acceptable driving record You can safely operate a company-assigned vehicle, including trucks and SUVs You are willing to complete a background check, driving record check, and drug screen upon offer of employment At S&ME, we have a history of delivering innovative geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction material testing for over 50 years.
