Job Description

Mechanical Engineer /
EPU Engineering Support Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required Minimum 5 years of commercial nuclear power plant experience Strong understanding of nuclear plant systems, operations, engineering, design, and licensing processes Experience developing design inputs, reviewing engineering analyses, calculations, technical reports, and design change documentation Knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles, hydraulic calculations, and power generation facility design Experience with P&IDs, piping system design and layout, pipe sizing and routing, material selection, pipe support design, and equipment selection Experience preparing equipment specifications, inquiry packages, datasheets, and balance-of-plant equipment documentation Familiarity with applicable nuclear codes, standards, and regulatory requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills Ability to make sound engineering decisions with limited information and minimal supervision Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineer (PE) license Experience supporting Plant Hatch and/or Plant Vogtle Units 1-2 Experience supporting power uprate (EPU) projects in commercial nuclear facilities Operations experience including system operation, troubleshooting, procedure usage, and plant response Licensing experience including NRC submittals, regulatory evaluations, and licensing impact assessments Strong systems engineering background with knowledge of plant system interactions and performance Experience with FATHOM, PEPSE, or similar thermal/hydraulic and plant performance software Experience supporting engineering design, modifications, and configuration management programs Experience at other PWR or BWR facilities, especially involving power uprate initiatives
Responsibilities:
Provide mechanical engineering support for Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects at commercial nuclear power plants Develop Design Input Requests (DIRs) to support system analyses performed by external Architect-Engineer organizations Validate scoping documents and engineering inputs associated with plant evaluation activities Review and assess engineering reports, task reports, calculations, and work products supporting EPU feasibility Perform owner acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and analysis results Develop equipment specifications, datasheets, and design input requirements for plant modifications Perform and review hydraulic calculations associated with plant systems and equipment Provide technical direction and support to engineering designers and project teams Evaluate plant modifications from engineering, operational, and licensing perspectives Coordinate with plant personnel, engineering organizations, and vendors to support project objectives Support license amendment activities and engineering evaluations associated with power uprate implementation Ensure compliance with applicable nuclear industry standards, regulatory requirements, and plant processes Contribute to project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting activities throughout the EPU project lifecycle Build and maintain effective working relationships with plant staff, engineering teams, and external stakeholders This Company does NOT offer VISA transfer, sponsorship, or relocation to the United States.
