Full Job Description R D Product Engineer Job Description:
In this position, you will oversee new product design, product testing, and reviewing/improving production and fabrication processes and procedures. An engineering background in sheet metal fabrication is needed. A high attention to detail, and the ability to optimize production processes for maximum efficiency are necessary for this role.
Responsibilities:
Work with sales and engineering teams to research, design, and develop new products that complement our current detention equipment product line. Prepare shop fabrication drawings for new product prototypes. Responsible for all current in-house testing which requires periodic updates. Monitor and maintain test report files. Responsible to work with all outside third party testing agencies. Assess and analyze our current processes to improve our production procedures, increase production, reduce costs, and improve quality. Work with maintenance and plant managers as necessary to assist them in making jigs/fixtures to maximize productivity of machinery and workers. Assist in reviewing all operations to maintain an efficient and safe work environment.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Proven experience of working in a sheet metal manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications. Proficiency in AutoCAD (SolidWorks preferred). Good math and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities Ability to produce accurate work while multitasking and operating with minimal supervision Minimal travel required
