This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, you will be responsible for electrical, electronic, and electromechanical (EEE) component selection, pedigree evaluation, component derating, part-level analyses and environmental impact assessments. You will also provide support for EEE component procurement and inventory management. Your domain expertise as a Component Engineer will help the team develop and evolve our standards for EEE component testing, screening, and qualification. In this role you will share in the team's effort to improve the performance and reliability of our avionics systems. To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills, experience, and knowledge to apply EEE components in high-reliability applications. In addition, you will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, collaborating with engineers, program managers and suppliers. You will need to be able to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Utilize features of PLM software systems to improve visibility into the product/component approval lifecycle for all business/technical stakeholders
Lead program-wide component level assessment and evaluation activities
Support sustaining engineering and obsolescence management efforts in a EEE components capacity
Develop component level requirements and assist the responsible engineer in design solutions
Develop value-added screening and qualification approaches and methodologies
Ensure compliance to EEE component requirements
Lead sustainment activities to maintain baseline control. Increased focus on
PCN/GIDEP
management and proactive obsolescence planning is needed. Enforce baseline controlMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience 5+ years of hands-on experience in component and parts management, avionics hardware development, integration, and/or test Ability to assess the Bill of Materials for avionics designs against approved vendor/component parts lists and standards Experience in a design, manufacturing, quality, or reliability capacity Ability to lead and investigate part advisories and alerts (e.g., GIDEP, ECIA) Experience with managing part change notifications and assessing impact Experience with obsolescence management of EEE parts Ability to travel as the need arises to supplier locations throughout the U.S.Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of exposure to semiconductor design/processing, component screening, accelerated testing, reliability analysis Experience with the use of commercial/automotive parts in aerospace applications Familiarity with common EEE Component aerospace requirements (e.g., EEE-INST-002, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-981, AEC-Q standards, etc.) Ability to acquire, evaluate, and explain Destructive Physical Analysis results, performance screening data, and component qualification artifacts from vendors per EEE Parts Control Plan requirements Experience developing and maintaining source control documentation for EEE components used in avionics/high-reliability designs Experience acquiring and assessing Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for automotive parts Experience processing non-standard part approval requests, program waiver requests, and discussing and explaining component quality documentation Compensation Range for: CA applicants is $130,706.00- $182,987.70 CO applicants is $119,814.00
