Company Overview Automotive Testing and Development Services (ATDS) is a dynamic, full-service engineering and testing firm dedicated to advancing vehicle performance and safety. We collaborate with clients across North America to test and develop a wide range of vehicles, from small engines to heavy-duty trucks, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer expectations. Role Overview In this role, you will support the engineering and execution of a vehicle testing program based at a proving ground. You'll work closely with the client's engineering team to develop and execute test plans, collect and analyze data, troubleshoot vehicle issues, and provide technical recommendations. The program includes prototype and test vehicles such as electric step vans, delivery vehicles, and medium-duty commercial vehicles, with testing activities that may include durability, mileage accumulation, vehicle validation, functional and performance testing, EV systems, thermal/environmental testing, ADAS, and other engineering activities. This is a hands-on engineering position that combines vehicle testing, instrumentation, data analysis, troubleshooting, and technical communication. The role will work closely with the Site Lead / Technician, who will manage the day-to-day fleet operations and mechanical side of the program. Responsibilities Daily Support execution of vehicle testing and validation activities in coordination with the client engineering team Review test results, vehicle data, and driver reports to identify issues and determine appropriate follow-up Troubleshoot vehicle and test-related issues and work with engineering teams to identify potential causes and solutions Configure, operate, and troubleshoot data acquisition and instrumentation systems Download, review, and analyze test data to support engineering decisions Communicate test status, findings, and issues with the client engineering team Operate or ride in test vehicles as needed to support testing and first-hand investigation of vehicle behavior or reported issues Occasionally / Periodically / Ongoing Work with the client engineering team to develop test approaches, test plans, and test procedures Install and remove instrumentation and data acquisition equipment Support vehicle calibrations and other engineering activities Prepare vehicles and test equipment for specific testing activities Develop technical reports, test summaries, and other engineering documentation Make technical recommendations based on test results, vehicle observations, and data analysis Support technical investigations and issue resolution with engineering and onsite personnel Assist with client visits, test events, and other engineering activities Work closely with the Site Lead / Technician to coordinate vehicle availability and test execution Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field 3-5+ years of experience in automotive testing, vehicle validation, durability, development, or a related field Experience working at a proving ground or within the automotive testing industry (preferred) Experience with EVs, commercial vehicles, step vans, delivery vehicles, medium-duty vehicles, or prototype vehicles (preferred) Hands-on experience with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition Experience troubleshooting vehicle systems and test equipment Strong technical writing, data analysis, and communication skills Experience with automotive data acquisition and instrumentation systems, including Vector CANalyzer/CANape, ETAS, and related tools.
