Mechanical Construction Location:
Anaheim, CA A growing mechanical contractor is seeking a Project Engineer to support commercial mechanical construction projects throughout Southern California. This is an opportunity to join a team where you will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to support projects from preconstruction through completion. The ideal candidate will have experience within a mechanical contracting environment and understand the full project lifecycle, including estimating, submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and field coordination.
Responsibilities:
Support Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects. Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and closeout materials. Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, general contractors, engineers, and internal project teams. Review construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify potential issues and ensure successful execution. Assist with estimating, takeoffs, proposals, and pricing for new work and change orders. Support procurement activities including equipment, materials, and subcontractor coordination. Participate in job walks, project meetings, and field coordination efforts. Track project schedules, budgets, commitments, and overall project progress. Assist with commissioning, inspections, punch lists, and project closeout.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer within mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, MEP, or a related field. Experience working for a mechanical contractor preferred. Strong understanding of construction processes, project documentation, and coordination. Experience managing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and change orders. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple project stakeholders. Proficiency with construction software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Background:
Commercial HVAC experience. Experience supporting projects from estimating/preconstruction through completion. Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms.
