We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help with developing the next generation solid-state hydrogen storage systems and associated hydrogen refueling/charging equipment. The engineer is expected to contribute towards the product strategy, P&ID, component design, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of low-temperature capable products and equipment, including vacuum insulated containers, cryogenic liquid transfer systems, valves, pumps, regulators, and safety systems. The Mechanical Engineer is expected to procure/build prototypes, test prototypes to evaluate functionality and performance, collaborate with engineers and scientists to refine prototype designs, and document and report testing results and prototype performance. This position involves hands-on assembly of cryogenic and high pressure systems, hydrogen system prototype testing and collaborative work spanning extended hours. Key Tasks and responsibilities o Prepare pneumatic and cryogenic system concepts, engineering drawings, BOMs and P&IDs. o Specify and source high pressure and cryogenic sensors, fittings and components. o Build prototypes and assemble cryogenic and pressure components. o Collaborate on test setups including integration of sensors, setting up data acquisition instrumentation, testing and trouble shooting. o Help with hydrogen refills, fuel cell integration and system-level testing. Essential Qualifications o Master's degree in mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in pneumatic and cryogenic systems. o Proficiency in specifying and assembling cryogenic and high pressure fittings. o DAQ/instrumentation and introductory coding experience (LabVIEW, Python, Arduino, etc.) o Experience with testing and troubleshooting of pneumatic and cryogenic systems. o Willingness to undertake tedious assembly or testing including long-duration runs, troubleshooting and iterative improvements. o Interpersonal and communication skills to consult with scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders and to provide them with clear progress reports and suggestions for improvement. o Experience with high pressure hydrogen handling and hydrogen safety is a plus. o Experience with cryogenic fluids, materials for low temperature service, insulation options, cryogenic equipment, and cryogenic safety is a plus.
Pay:
$77,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
