This role offers something increasingly rare in engineering: ownership of a product across its full lifecycle. As the primary mechanical engineer for our King Nutronics line, you will take precision calibration instruments from concept through prototype, production release, and sustainment. You will make consequential technical decisions, work directly with customers, and see how your designs perform in demanding aerospace and defense environments. Raptor Scientific designs and builds advanced RF measurement systems and precision pressure, temperature, torque, and force calibration instrumentation. Our Livermore operation is growing, creating room for engineers who want broader responsibility and the opportunity to grow with the business.WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Take products from concept to production — Lead mechanical design through prototype build, testing, production release, and long-term sustainment.
- Design complete mechanical systems — Develop components, assemblies, and pneumatic and hydraulic pressure-control systems, including tubing, manifolds, valves, regulators, and custom fixtures.
- Engineer for demanding environments — Design ruggedized systems for salt spray, vibration, shock, moisture, and temperature extremes in shipboard, submarine, hangar, and outdoor applications.
- Improve manufacturability — Reduce cost and complexity in a low-to-medium-volume environment without compromising performance or reliability.
- Learn directly from customers — Understand use cases and pain points firsthand, then translate them into better products and future capabilities.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Education — Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant design experience — Five or more years of hands-on mechanical design experience with precision instruments, sensors, or test and measurement equipment focused on pressure, temperature, torque, or force.
- CAD and design fundamentals — Strong 3D CAD skills; Inventor and/or SolidWorks are strongly preferred. Working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
- Pressure-control expertise — Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic pressure and vacuum control systems.
- Lifecycle execution — Demonstrated experience carrying a design from concept through prototype and production release.
- Hands-on capability — The ability and willingness to build and test your own prototypes.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WILL SET YOU APART
- Quality environments — Experience in ISO 9001, AS9100, or
ISO/IEC 17025
quality environments.- Scripting — Python or similar scripting skills used for test automation, data reduction, or workflow tools.
- Rugged design standards — Experience designing to

requirements, including vibration, shock, or salt spray.- Program background — Prior aerospace or defense program experience.
