Job Description
Akkodis is seeking a R&D Engineer for a Contract with a client in Milpitas, CA. The ideal candidate with experience leading human factors strategy, usability research, and user-centered design initiatives to ensure safe, effective, and compliant medical device products throughout the development lifecycle .

Rate Range:
$65/hour to $68/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. R&D Engineer Job Responsibilities include: Lead human factors and usability engineering activities across the product development lifecycle to ensure safe, effective, and user-centered medical device solutions. Plan, conduct, and analyze formative studies, usability evaluations, task analyses, risk assessments, and validation testing for hardware and software products. Develop and maintain Human Factors Engineering deliverables, including usability engineering files, risk analyses, test protocols, and regulatory documentation. Collaborate with R&D, Design, Product Management, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality teams to incorporate user needs into product design and development decisions. Interpret user research findings and translate complex data into actionable recommendations that improve product usability, safety, and customer experience. Provide technical leadership and guidance on human factors strategy, regulatory compliance, and usability best practices while supporting successful product submissions and market readiness.Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in human Factors Engineering, Cognitive Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with significant Human Factors coursework. 8-10+ years of experience in Human Factors Engineering, Usability Engineering, or User-Centered Design, preferably within medical device or regulated product development environments. Strong expertise in human factors research methodologies, usability testing, task analysis, usability risk assessments, and applying user-centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle. Proven experience supporting medical device development, regulatory submissions, and cross-functional collaboration while translating user research insights into product design improvements and business decisions.
