RTI Company Description:
RTI is a growing business located in Morgan Hill, California. RTI designs and manufactures specialized test sockets, test fixtures, and ATE interface fixtures for the semiconductor and related electronics industry. RTI also designs and manufactures semiconductor test equipment for failure analysis of semiconductors. RTI has in-house electrical and PCB design, mechanical design including CAD solid modeling, CAM, an advanced in-house CNC machine shop as well as electronic assembly and test areas. Position Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer is a hands-on mechanical design position and is responsible for performing moderately difficult sustaining and design engineering tasks. This includes modifications, analysis, design, modeling, assembly and testing of mechanical test fixtures and electro-mechanical products. The Mechanical Engineer will work with customer requirements and instructions from the project scope to develop quality engineering test solutions. Applies industry and company standards to design tasks. Primary Responsibilities Perform detailed mechanical design and calculations using CAD tools for standard and custom products Improve existing designs, and develop new designs, for ease-of-use, manufacturability, cost reduction and reliability Generate detailed mechanical drawings using drafting standards, dimensioning and tolerancing Manage customer projects from concept to manufacturing following specific requirements and schedule Utilization of MRP system for bill of materials and routing Responsible for the generation of customer specifications Coordination of electromechanical interfaces, selection of components, specifications for the PCB design, and aid in the assembly and test of the product Define assembly and test procedures for products Participates and leads junior engineers, designers and drafters in the design creation and dimensioning of manufacturing drawings When working on-site: Perform engineering Final Approvals for product before shipment Support onsite staff by addressing in-person questions. Required Knowledge and Experience:
BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field 5+ years of experience in Mechanical Design Knowledge of pneumatic actuators, cylinders and values Organize, participate and lead design reviews Able to produce quality documentation for both internal and external target audiences Extensive experience with 3D CAD system (Solid Edge experience a major plus) Strong analytical and organizational skills, coupled with a well-focused attention to detail Knowledge of basic machining and machining practices and the ability to design easily manufactured parts Understanding of mechanical design standards for manufacturability Able to create and implement assembly processes and documentation Excellent communication, presentation & collaboration skills
Helpful Knowledge and Experience:
Related design experience in designing semiconductor test sockets Design understanding of thermal management and thermal cooling methods including water circuit and TEC design Design of small temperature chambers or knowledge of heat transfer and temperature controllers Knowledge of semiconductor and hybrid packaging Experience in designing test fixtures and custom test equipment for the semiconductor, hybrid or PCB industry Experience in semiconductor device and packaging failure analysis Knowledge of basic electrical components including connectors and cabling Basic understanding of PCB design and related electrical characteristics Experience in any of the following: test fixture design, semiconductor device or package failure analysis, design of custom test systems for semiconductors, design of IC package handling equipment, design of temperature chambers, or other directly related experience or education
