The Role We are seeking a highly motivated person to join our Engineering team. As a Mechanical Engineer will serve as an integral contributor to the BW Engineering Department. You will be involved in various functions spanning the entire product line including both existing products and new product development. This person shall be an energetic, hands-on creative problem solver that is effective in collaborating across all facets of the business. This role will report to the Head of Engineering. Expectations of the role Perform tolerance analysis, Free-body-diagram, hand calculations to estimate stress and deflections. Contribute to and support all design engineering and new product development functions including prototyping Contribute to and support sales, marketing and manufacturing efforts as needed Component selection for drive trains such as gearboxes, motors, and bearings. Develop and review design models and prints for manufacturing using 3D CAD system, preferably Creo and SolidWorks (Must have sheet metal and machining experience) Write test protocol, report and perform testing on electromechanical subsystems. Review documentation and specifications from suppliers Continually improve our testing and measurement procedures and methods Design and develop new products keeping COGs in mind and trade-off between machining VS sheet metal selection. Our Wishlist 2+ years leading or contributing to product development Demonstrated project management skills/tools BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering Experience working with motion components (rails, bearings, wheels, etc.), motors, actuators, and sensors Experience taking products from idea to production within expected deadlines and cost target. Must have practical knowledge of manufacturing processes such as milling, lathe, and forming.
