Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is looking for an Environmental Test Engineer II in the Greater San Josa area. This person will plan and execute vibration and thermal vacuum campaigns on spacecraft and flight hardware. You will help stand up an in-house environmental test lab, which means this role both runs tests and builds the procedures, fixtures, and test definitions the lab will operate on for years. Skills and Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline4+ years of hands-on environmental test experience, including direct ownership of vibration and thermal vacuum campaignsWorking knowledge of vibration testing: sine, random, and shock; control and limit channels; fixture configuration; and interpretation of PSD and transmissibility data.

Working knowledge of thermal vacuum testing: pump-down and vacuum system operation, thermal control, leak checking, and chamber closeoutDemonstrated strength in technical writing, with a portfolio of test procedures, test plans, or reports you authoredProficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD, sufficient to design test fixtures and support hardware and to produce drawings for fabrication.

Familiarity with environmental test standards and philosophy, for example GEVS/GSFC-STD-7000, MIL-STD-1540, or NASA-STD-7001/7002, and with qualification, acceptance, and protoflight approachesSpacecraft, satellite, or launch vehicle environmental test experience in a New Space or fast-paced production environment.

Experience with structural dynamics, modal analysis, or coupled loads analysis.

Familiarity with vacuum leak detection, helium mass spectrometry, and cryogenic systems.

Scripting experience (Python or similar) for test data reduction and reporting.

Experience with MGSE, lifting fixtures, and rigging for flight hardware handling.

Experience supporting environmental test equipment commissioning or facility build-out.
