DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop new products and do research and development for new product categories. Design components from customer or marketing specifications and generate layout, detail, sub-assembly, final assembly, and outline drawings to completely define the product's electrical and mechanical parameters. Draw a functional design, Logic Synthesis of the functional design, selecting component, Test selected Components based on data sheet, implement them on Bread Board then on PCB. Write Coding for DSP and AIC and Testing and Trouble shoot circuit and coding. Understand logical flow of circuit diagram, order required circuit components and test them Implement Protocol Converter on a breadboard based on schematic provided - Solder tested circuit on a PCB Convert design concepts into proposal drawings as requested by the Engineering Manager. Design developmental and production tooling required for the fabrication of prototype or standard products, as assigned. Generate specification control drawings for all purchased parts required to manufacture a product. Coordinate the documentation required for the development of new products with the Project or Chief Engineer. Be cognizant of new developments in technology, materials, processes, and manufacturing techniques relating to the company's products. Assist the marketing department in the preparation of pictorial art describing the company's products, as assigned. Have complete familiarity with the use of a Computer Aided Design (CAD)system for the creation of documentation with a professional format consistent with MIL standards. Engage in the coaching and training of drafting personnel as required. Allocate workload consistent with established task schedules. Assemble samples and prototypes as well as repair defective switch mechanisms. Review customer specifications for agreement with Cole Instrument's product specifications. Analyze dimensional and electrical tolerances to verify compliance to the total error budget specified. Be familiar with standard machine surface finishes as well as supplementary finishes such as plating, anodizing, irradiating, etc. Have a comprehensive knowledge of the company's products, including their strengths and weaknesses. Submit periodic reports as required on the status of engineering projects, and related technical documents, assuring their timely completion. Check all department drawings, specifications, and other technical documents for accuracy, completeness, and professional content. Make suggestions on product improvement that will serve to improve the company's competitive posture. Maintain the Engineering Test Lab and all its equipment in prime condition. Convert design concepts into proposal drawings as requested by the Project or Engineering Director. Work with the Project Engineer in the selection of the best processes and materials to be used to achieve the highest quality product within established cost restraints. Design developmental and production tooling required for the fabrication of prototype or standard products, as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Submit a monthly report on the status of all engineering projects, emphasizing percent of completion, to the Engineering Manager no later than the first Wednesday of the following month. In conjunction with Quality Assurance and Sales, submit a Failure Analysis and Corrective Action report on customer returns to their satisfaction within ten working days. Submit a quarterly report to the Engineering Manager no later than the 15th day of the first month of the following quarter describing product improvement suggestions and how well they met the predicted electrical, mechanical, and/or cost performance. Maintain a neat, clean, and well organized engineering department area that will give a good impression to visitors, in particular.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable to the Engineering Manager for the skillful and timely accomplishment of all engineering projects and task assignments. Accountable to Manufacturing and Quality Control for effective resolution of the product's technical problems.
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Strong verbal and written English skills. Familiarity with the Windows PC environment. Ability to work well as part of a team.
EDUCATION / TRAINING
A Bachelor or Masters degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering form an accredited college or university.
