Job Title:
Manufacturing and Test Equipment Engineer - Medical Devices Job Description This onsite role focuses on designing and developing new manufacturing and test equipment, along with associated software, to support the development and production of advanced medical devices. You will work independently or as part of a cross-functional team to define concepts, create detailed specifications, and deliver complex manufacturing and test systems that meet stringent quality and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Lead or actively participate in project teams to develop clear and complete specifications for manufacturing and test equipment used in medical device development and production. Evaluate the technical feasibility of proposed concepts and provide formal estimates for electrical and software design efforts, including time and resource requirements. Coordinate, monitor, and document project designs, estimates, and costs to ensure transparency and alignment with project objectives. Create robust electrical and software designs using standard development tools, procedures, and best practices established by the department. Manage and complete project deliverables while monitoring project schedules and scope changes to ensure the team meets delivery and performance requirements. Prepare standard reports and documentation to communicate project status, design decisions, test results, and issues to stakeholders. Design electrical systems for manufacturing and test equipment and specify appropriate electrical components to meet performance and safety requirements. Identify pneumatic components and automated control requirements for equipment, ensuring they integrate effectively with overall system design. Support compliance with FDA and Quality System Regulation (QSR) equipment requirements by assisting in the creation of equipment specifications, qualifications, and related documentation. Develop and execute test plans and verification testing for wireless hardware systems, RF communication, and firmware to ensure system performance and reliability. Contribute to system verification activities, including integration testing of hardware, firmware, and software components. Provide training and guidance to equipment users and technical staff to ensure control systems and test equipment are operated effectively and safely. Build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance with applicable quality systems, procedures, and documentation standards. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience. Hands-on experience with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication. Experience working with RF emitters and RF communication in wireless hardware systems. Proficiency in Python for test development, automation, and system verification tasks. Experience in system verification, including creating and executing test plans, verification testing, and integration testing. Experience with firmware testing and integration in embedded or wireless systems. Proficiency using source code and configuration management tools such as Bitbucket or GitHub. Ability to design electrical systems and specify electrical components for manufacturing and test equipment. Ability to identify pneumatic components and automated control requirements for equipment. Strong documentation skills for preparing specifications, reports, and qualification documents. Ability to estimate design effort, manage project deliverables, and monitor project schedules and scope changes. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience developing manufacturing or test equipment in a regulated industry, especially medical devices or neuromodulation technologies. Familiarity with FDA and Quality System Regulation (QSR) requirements for equipment specifications and qualifications. Experience with wireless hardware systems and RF communication design or test. Background in test development for complex electro-mechanical or embedded systems. Experience working within structured quality systems and following standard development tools and procedures. Strong collaboration skills to work effectively on cross-functional project teams. Ability to provide training and support to end users of manufacturing and test equipment. Work Environment This is an onsite position within a medical device development and production environment focused on neuromodulation and other advanced technologies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and manufacturing, to design and support complex manufacturing and test equipment. The role involves frequent use of standard engineering development tools, Python-based test frameworks, source control platforms such as Bitbucket or GitHub, and equipment used for wireless, RF, and firmware testing. Work is performed under established quality systems and regulatory standards, including FDA and QSR requirements, with an emphasis on thorough documentation, verification, and compliance. The environment is professional, technology-driven, and quality-focused, supporting hands-on work with electrical, pneumatic, and automated control systems Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Santa Clarita, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
