We are looking for an experienced Civil Designer to deliver versatile design solutions for municipal on-call projects across towns throughout the state. Primary Areas of Focus Civil Engineering Design Mentor & Train Core Responsibilities Perform complex grading design, including hillsides, and unique site conditions. Understand, develop and manage engineering calculations. Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from engineers to ensure that they conform to design concepts. Responsible for internal schedule order of operations, workflow, and submittal deadlines. Demonstrate understanding of the work order and presentation method based on different drafting requirements for each agency. Prepare complex exhibits. Delegate subtasks and perform follow-up with minimal direction. Understand the scope of work, budgets, time allocation, client expectations, and basic change orders. Coordinate field directives and resolve issues, including ASIs, RFIs, plan revisions, etc. Coordinate submittals. You may be asked to provide a design with little direction from the engineering staff. Such plans include grading and drainage plans, street, sewer, storm drain and water plans, pipelines, and erosion control plans. Mentor and train associates in all stages of learning. Lead training and knowledge transfer for the designer role. Responsible for completing timecards accurately and on time. Perform other duties as assigned. Achieve an 85-90% Billable Utilization Rate. Non-billable activities include company & team meetings, professional development, community involvement, innovation time, culture & engagement activities, learning, and training. Preferred Skills & Experience High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree in Construction Management, Computer Aided Drafting/Design, or a similar field ideal. Minimum of 12 years of experience using Civil 3D to design and prepare construction drawings for municipal public works projects. Mastery of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam. Experience coordinating between AutoCAD Civil 3D and HEC-RAS, a plus. Attention to detail, excellent communication, and multi-tasking skills. Able to problem solve and prioritize. Ability to work independently. Desire, willingness, and ability to teach. Advanced understanding of municipal codes. Valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Physical Requirements Required to stand, walk, and sit. The position may require a visit to project sites occasionally. The position requires a normal range of hearing. The employee must be able to lift 40 lbs. occasionally. Requires prolonged sitting with 15% of the time spent bending and reaching. Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. Noise levels are consistent with a standard office environment.
