Project Engineer The Sterling Choice Washington, DC Job Details Full-time $75,000 - $100,000 a year 17 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Civil engineering Project engineering Underground utilities installation Full Job Description Project Engineer Washington, DC $75,000 - $100,000 I'm currently working with a well-established heavy civil contractor that is looking to add a Project Engineer to their team in the Washington, DC / Baltimore market. This is an opportunity for a Project Engineer who wants to be more than just a number on a project team. You'll work directly alongside the Project Manager and Superintendent, playing a key role in keeping projects moving from planning through completion. The position has a strong mix of field coordination, project administration, scheduling, cost control and engineering, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys being involved in the details and solving problems before they become bigger issues. Day-to-day, you'll be involved in supporting project planning, monitoring progress, coordinating with subcontractors and vendors, assisting with budgets and change orders, and making sure the project remains on schedule and aligned with the client's expectations. You'll also work closely with inspectors, engineers and site personnel, while helping maintain accurate project documentation and ensuring contract specifications are being followed.
The ideal background:
5+ years of experience in utility construction / project management Strong experience with water, sanitary sewer and/or stormwater systems Understanding of water and sewer line installation or replacement Knowledge of bypass pumping Experience with excavation, earthwork and civil construction Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment A degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred, while experience with HCSS or Sage Timberline would be a plus. You're working closely with senior project leadership but also getting genuine responsibility for the cost, schedule, coordination and execution of the work.
