Clearwater, FL Job Details $50,000 - $70,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Mechanical blueprint interpretation 3D modeling software Solid mechanics Full Job Description Position Summary The Mechanical Design Engineer I provides engineering support in the design, development, and improvement of wastewater screening equipment and mechanical systems. This role focuses on foundational engineering tasks, such as modeling, calculations, testing support, and documentation, while learning company-specific design standards and product architecture. Work is performed under direct to moderate supervision with increasing responsibility as competence develops. Key Responsibilities Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings for components, weldments, and assemblies. Perform basic engineering calculations including sizing, fit, tolerance stack-ups, and material selection. Assist in evaluating design concepts for manufacturability, reliability, and performance. Support design changes, ECNs, and document updates. Participate in prototype assembly, testing, and validation activities. Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to address shop floor questions. Support project engineers in producing engineering documentation packages. Participate in technical reviews and incorporate feedback into engineering deliverables. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. Foundational proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software. Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, statics, and strength of materials. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Preferred Qualifications Internship or co-op within manufacturing, machinery, or equipment design. Exposure to industrial or wastewater equipment. Competency Expectations Works under direction; performs defined engineering tasks. Demonstrates developing proficiency in engineering analysis. Applies standards consistently but requires review on most tasks. Working Conditions Office and manufacturing floor exposure. Occasional handling of prototype components and participation in equipment testing.
