This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of residential projects, including luxury custom homes, single-family residences, townhomes, renovations, and new construction throughout South Florida. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems, preparing construction documents, and utilizing Revit and AutoCAD. This is a design-focused position responsible for developing accurate, efficient, and code-compliant mechanical and plumbing plans for residential projects. Responsibilities Develop detailed mechanical and plumbing designs for residential new construction, renovations, and additions. Prepare accurate mechanical and plumbing construction drawings using Revit and AutoCAD. Design HVAC systems, including equipment selection, cooling load calculations, ductwork layouts, and ventilation systems. Design residential plumbing systems, including domestic water distribution, sanitary drainage, vent piping, and plumbing fixture layouts. Perform HVAC load calculations and equipment sizing using industry-standard engineering software. Review architectural and structural drawings to ensure proper integration of mechanical and plumbing systems. Identify and resolve design conflicts between mechanical, plumbing, architectural, structural, and electrical systems. Prepare permit-ready construction documents in compliance with the Florida Building Code and applicable local regulations. Review and respond to building department comments and revise engineering drawings as required. Prepare mechanical and plumbing design revisions based on architectural updates and engineering redlines. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of mechanical and plumbing drawings throughout the design process. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Proven experience in residential mechanical and plumbing engineering design. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required. Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems, ductwork design, cooling load calculations, and equipment selection. Experience designing residential plumbing systems, including domestic water supply, sanitary drainage, and vent systems. Familiarity with the Florida Building Code, mechanical and plumbing codes, and local permitting requirements. Experience preparing mechanical and plumbing construction documents for residential projects. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings. Strong understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and multidisciplinary design coordination. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality engineering drawings. Ability to work independently, incorporate engineering redlines, and meet established design deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience working on residential projects throughout South Florida, including Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Experience designing mechanical and plumbing systems for luxury custom homes and large-scale residential renovations. Proficiency with HVAC load calculation software such as Carrier HAP or similar programs.
