Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Manager of Equipment Engineering to lead our equipment and manufacturing systems team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of industrial equipment and automation systems to optimize manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement, robotics, and industrial automation, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and quality enhancement. As a leader in our organization, you will drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure operational excellence and technological innovation across our manufacturing facilities. Duties Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of equipment engineering projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules and budgets through effective project management practices. Oversee the design and development of manufacturing systems utilizing CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Creo; create detailed schematics and technical drawings for industrial equipment. Manage the integration and programming of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), robotics, vision inspection systems, and industrial automation tools to enhance production efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures or process deviations; implement corrective actions utilizing Six Sigma methodologies and process engineering principles. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including manufacturing, quality assurance, tooling, and maintenance—to develop process improvements that increase productivity, reduce waste, and ensure quality standards are met. Supervise troubleshooting activities related to mechanical issues, welding processes, tooling setups, and industrial equipment; ensure rapid resolution to minimize downtime. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma practices; promote a culture of innovation within the engineering team. Provide leadership for team members by setting clear objectives, mentoring technical staff, and fostering professional development in areas such as robotics programming, industrial automation, and engineering troubleshooting. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing are preferred. Extensive experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role within a factory environment; minimum of five years in a leadership capacity. Proficiency with CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo; strong understanding of schematics and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Demonstrated expertise in project scheduling, project management within manufacturing settings, and factory experience. Deep knowledge of plastics injection molding processes, tooling design, assembly lines, robotics programming (including vision inspection systems), welding techniques, and industrial automation. Strong analytical skills in engineering data analysis; ability to utilize tools such as CAD software for process simulation and troubleshooting. Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean management and Six Sigma manufacturing practices. Mechanical knowledge related to industrial equipment maintenance; experience with tooling design and assembly line optimization. Proven leadership skills with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams effectively while fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement. $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
