Job Description
Build Your Engineering Experience in a Hands-On Manufacturing Environment We are seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering and fabrication team in Kennesaw, Georgia. This is an excellent opportunity for a third-year or higher engineering student, recent graduate, or mechanically minded individual who wants to take what they have learned in the classroom, through technical training, or through hands-on projects and apply it in a real manufacturing environment. Previous professional engineering experience is not required. However, candidates must demonstrate proven knowledge and practical experience in engineering principles, concepts, or related technical work. We are looking for someone who has a foundation in mechanical design and manufacturing and is eager to develop their skills while working alongside experienced engineers, fabricators, welders, and machinists. The ideal candidate will have some exposure to SolidWorks, engineering drawings, sheet metal, weldments, machining, CNC equipment, or general fabrication concepts. You do not need to be an expert, we are looking for someone with mechanical aptitude, curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn. What You'll Do In this role, you will gain practical engineering and manufacturing experience by assisting with projects from design through fabrication.
Responsibilities include:
Assist with the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, including sheet metal parts, weldments, and machined components. Create and modify SolidWorks 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings. Assist with designing parts and assemblies with manufacturability in mind. Work directly with experienced engineers, fabricators, welders, and machinists to understand how designs move from the computer to the shop floor. Support prototype development and make design revisions based on manufacturing feedback. Assist with Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, documentation, and revision control. Learn and apply manufacturing processes involving sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and CNC equipment. What We're Looking For This is an entry-level developmental position, so we are not expecting you to know everything. We're looking for candidates who have: Ideally completed at least three years of coursework toward a Mechanical Engineering or related degree. Some familiarity with SolidWorks through school, technical training, internships, personal projects, or hands-on experience. Basic understanding or exposure to sheet metal, weldments, machining, CNC, or fabrication terminology. Ability to read or learn to read technical and engineering drawings. Familiarity with dimensions, tolerances, and basic GD&T concepts is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Good attention to detail and organizational skills. A willingness to ask questions, learn, and accept feedback. Comfort working in both an engineering office and hands-on manufacturing/fabrication environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. If you have a solid foundation and are eager to learn, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every preferred qualification.
