Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for leading the development of complex mechanical products and systems, with full accountability for project execution including design, analysis, scheduling, cost management, and engineering documentation. This role requires strong technical expertise in structural analysis, machine elements, and precision motion systems, along with the ability to optimize designs for manufacturability and product performance. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership potential, strong problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with internal teams and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and execution of mechanical product development projects from concept through implementation. Manage project schedules, cost estimates, engineering analysis, and technical documentation. Design and specify machine elements used in precision motion systems, including bearings, gearboxes, encoders, servomotors, and related components. Develop and integrate positioning systems and optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and performance. Perform engineering analyses including strength of materials, structural, static, dynamic, and thermal evaluations. Design and evaluate aluminum and steel weldments while ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. Support product safety certification efforts, including regulatory compliance and CE marking activities as applicable. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges throughout the product development lifecycle. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and project management to ensure successful product delivery. Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and other technical documentation. Communicate technical information effectively to internal stakeholders and customers through presentations, meetings, and project reviews. Demonstrate leadership in project execution, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives. Foster a collaborative team environment while maintaining strong organizational and interpersonal relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering 1-2 years in machine design in an industrial/manufacturing environment Strong engineering fundamentals

3D Computer Aided Design of complex mechanical systems

Generate detailed drawings per

ANSI Y14.5

Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

Weldment design and drawing per AWS D1.1, D1.2 or similar standards

Knowledge of finite element structural analysis, including calculations of stresses, safety margins, buckling margins, and modal analysis.

Design of machine elements (Bearing, Fastener, Gearbox, Motor, Gears, etc.)

Understanding of design and control of stepper and closed loop servo drivetrain systems

Demonstrate understanding of classical static and strength of materials

Understanding of precision machine shop and welding practices

Track record of complex product and system development

Proficient in MS Office products

Required international and domestic travel - up to 30%

Desired Qualifications:

Masters in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Product & complex system development experience

Machine design, hands on machine assembly and onsite machine installation experience

Laser tracker operation and metrology experience

Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs. What's in It for
