Engineering Designer 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars Dubuque, IA 52001 Full-time Modern 5 reviews Full-time Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Designer to join our team. This position will be responsible for producing mechanical system designs using Revit, creating layouts for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, and coordinating with internal teams and external trades. The ideal candidate has strong technical drafting skills, experience in construction or mechanical systems, and a collaborative mindset. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop detailed 3D models and construction documents using Revit for mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing). Create accurate layouts and coordinated models for Design permit. Review project specifications, submittals, and markups to ensure compliance and accuracy. Work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and other trades to ensure constructability and clash-free coordination. Participate in coordination meetings, internally and with GC/trade partners (e.g., Navisworks clash detection). Maintain version control of drawings and ensure timely updates based on design changes or RFIs. Assist with BIM execution plans and adhere to company drafting standards. Perform other duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP & NavisWorks design software. Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and other related project management programs as needed Strong communication and organizational skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills, both professional and interpersonal Understanding of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) in commercial and industrial buildings. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings. The ability to work both independently and within a team A responsible, organized, and detail-oriented mindset Refined time management skills and the ability to multi-task Experience working with BIM coordination platforms. Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC, IPC). Work Environment Considerations Must be able to work in high-pressure situations facing strict deadlines. Extended shifts may be necessary, and hours will often exceed 40 per week to perform duties effectively Most time will be in the office, but some trips to job sites and customer locations are required Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position Qualifications and Education Requirements 2+ years of experience in mechanical drafting/design and an Associate's degree in an Engineering Technology or 4+ years of experience in mechanical drafting/design within the construction industry.
