Job Description

Title :
Process Engineer Working place: Hoffman Estates or Huntley, IL (Salary depending on experience) Summary/Objective The US based Silesia Process Engineer will be a member of a global process engineering team which is responsible for process optimization, validation of ingredient substitution, commissioning of new equipment and flavor creation and quality department assistance. This is a Food Safety Role. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Assist and advise Production with commissioning equipment, upscaling and optimization projects.
  • Support Operations, QC/QA departments with process engineering troubleshooting
  • Validation of ingredient substitution
  • Planning and execution of trials independently on equipment in pilot and production facilities, including full documentation
  • Complete Trials and Projects on time and communicate these results effectively through verbal and written presentations
  • Active part of the Global Process Engineering Team
  • Support commissioning of new equipment and systems in production and pilot plant by checking the contractually agreed acceptance criteria in terms of performance, product quality and energy utilization.
  • Assist Flavor Creation with SOPs and work instructions
  • Guide and teach junior colleagues and technicians where needed.
  • Effectively communicate and manage recorded quality issues / non-conforming results to internal customers / cross-functional teams, assist in root cause analysis and recording of results in the operating system.
  • Accurate and professional communication with supervisor / manager
  • Efficient and precise data recording
  • Maintain cleanliness of their work areas and common areas shared by staff.
  • Write, review, and maintain standard operating procedures and documents, as assigned by departmental managers/supervisors.
  • In addition to the preceding assignments, the incumbent is obligated to carry out individual tasks that, in essence, belong to his/her duties or where this is dictated by company needs.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, Allergen Handling best practices, Food Defense, and other Food Safety/Food Defense/Quality programs.
Work Environment This work is performed in a laboratory and office environment, but this position also will collaborate and perform duties in manufacturing and engineering areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must wear appropriate personal safety protection equipment which will typically include safety glasses (as required), steel toes, uniforms, and respirators (when needed), etc. The employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration - dependent on the area. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, hear, or talk. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee must be willing and able to taste and smell a variety of flavors, foods, and beverages. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, with occasional domestic and international travel. Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in process engineering or materials science engineering or chemical engineering
  • 1-2 years previous flavor production experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) Microsoft Outlook and SAP skills preferred Special Requirements None for this position.
