Job Description
The Staff Engineer - Alignment will travel to various PCA locations to support projects across the organization in paper mills and box plants. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of industrial experience, preferably in the paper/corrugated industry. This is a hands-on position, working side-by-side with the leaders, contractors, and personnel to drive projects to completion. It's an exciting opportunity for anyone that wants to make an impact on the organization, while working with the best team in the industry! Relocation is NOT required must have reasonable access to reliable air transportation. The ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial setting focused on computer/digital/laser alignment . The primary responsibilities include alignment support for a range of projects, including new machine installation, machine survey work, troubleshooting and maintenance. This includes diligently recording all findings for reporting purposes, as well as reviewing historical documentation, and providing succinct and comprehensive reports for other members of the team. The Staff Engineer will use engineering acumen and best judgement when making decisions regarding alignment of machine components.
Job Duties:
Perform laser alignment on paper mill equipment Communicate PCA alignment issues to mill and corporate leadership Provide 24x7 phone support for alignment issues Assist mill vibration analysts and reliability managers to resolve alignment issues Assist mill roll change crews to critically align paper machine rolls and drive trains Layout sole plates for new drive train and machinery installations Provide alignment troubleshooting and recommendations Develop and review alignment specifications for new and used equipment Provide alignment support to box plants as needed Maintain laser alignment equipment Prepare alignment reports Provide supervisory support for mills during shutdowns as needed Manage contracted alignment crews during major projects, outages, and shutdowns Train and develop mill personnel to perform alignment dutiesJob Requirements:
High school diploma Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Teams, Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word Proficiency using AutoCAD Willingness to travel 70%, mostly weekly trips, however some weekends will be required Must have a valid passport and driver's license.Preferred Skills:
