at IMEG Consultants Corp. in Rock Island, Illinois, United States Job Description Senior Mechanical Engineer | Rock Island, IL IMEG is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Rock Island, IL, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for moderate-to-complex projects. In this role, you'll partner with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and client-focused advice, supporting code-compliant mechanical system design and implementation oversight for vertical building projects (HVAC focus). You will also support budget accountability, mentoring and training efforts, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal Responsibilities Lead mechanical design efforts for HVAC (and related) systems, producing detailed designs, specifications, and calculations aligned with codes and IMEG standards Perform site assessments and develop technical analyses and reports to support design decisions Partner directly with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build and maintain client relationships Conduct in-process design reviews (design, calculations, specifications, and correspondence) and implement IMEG quality control processes Provide technical training and mentoring, and support resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation within IMEG Prioritize safety in all engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals Participate in project interviews and project presentations Required Qualifications and Skills Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required Professional Engineer (PE) License required 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise Ability to sell work and develop client relationships Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Eagerness to adapt to new challenges Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
