Design Engineer 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Do you constantly try to figure out how things are built? Are you often drawing/sketching designs for items you would like to make? Maybe you enjoy envisioning/making your own furniture. Imagine engineering a custom product, modeling & seeing it in 3D, programming parts to build it, seeing the parts come together in our shop, and touching/feeling a custom finished product. Now, how about getting paid to do it? We're seeking a creative minded Design Engineer to join our team. You'll play a key role in bridging the gap between design intent and fabrication, ensuring that every project meets our high standards of craftsmanship, functionality, and aesthetics. SCI is an American based manufacturing company that delivers end-to-end space creation and custom millwork for restaurants, educational institutions, healthcare and other industries. The company has been experiencing steady sales growth due to superior quality & world-class customer service. Our manufacturing philosophy is to build everything on site, so that we may control quality and offer the shortest lead-time in the industry.
Job Responsibilities:
Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and design intent to create accurate fabrication drawings. Create engineering drawings for shop processes such as CNC, Stain, Metals, Upholstery, Solid Surface, Millwork, Fiberglass Departments Create documentation for job install phases including install drawings and hardware/material lists. Modify existing drawings and models from a library of established designs and by studying changes; redrawing requirements; changing identifications as required to make drawings ready for production. Train to be able to program a Router CNC using Router-CIM software for onsite fabrication. Collaborate with project managers, estimators, Interior Design, Sales, Purchasing, and Production Teams to ensure feasibility and efficiency. Review, select and order appropriate materials and hardware on project requirements and confirm accuracy of the product before issuing. Maintain drawing standards and documentation for internal and client use. Continuously improve design processes and contribute to innovation in millwork engineering.Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field is preferred. 1-3 years of experience in millwork, cabinetry, or architectural woodworking design. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor. Construction minded and ability to think in 3D. Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, and material properties. Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction documents. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Experience with CNC programming and manufacturing workflows. Epicor/ERP experience is a plus.Benefits :
