Manager of Mechanical Engineering -
Power Systems & Industrial Equipment Location:
Onsite A growing engineering and manufacturing organization specializing in critical power, electrical infrastructure, and industrial equipment is seeking a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for the design and development of custom mechanical systems supporting mission-critical applications. This leadership role combines engineering management with technical oversight, driving innovation, standardization, and continuous improvement across a portfolio of complex power distribution and industrial equipment projects. The successful candidate will lead engineering initiatives that improve product quality, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and project execution while mentoring a team of engineers and designers. Responsibilities Engineering Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers, designers, and CAD professionals. Provide technical leadership for mechanical system design, component selection, and engineering best practices. Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation. Develop and improve engineering standards, workflows, and design methodologies. Drive product standardization, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives. Establish engineering priorities and allocate resources across multiple projects. Project Execution Manage mechanical engineering activities supporting multiple concurrent projects. Ensure engineering deliverables meet customer requirements, budgets, and production schedules. Partner with manufacturing to improve design for manufacturability and production efficiency. Support estimating, sourcing, and operations during project execution. Resolve technical issues during fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with electrical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and project management teams. Support new product development and engineering innovation initiatives. Serve as the primary technical resource for mechanical engineering decisions. Participate in design reviews and continuous product improvement efforts. Customer Support Participate in customer meetings and technical design reviews. Provide engineering support during project development and execution. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications. Present engineering solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within industrial manufacturing, power systems, heavy equipment, marine, or related industries. Experience designing electro-mechanical equipment, power distribution equipment, enclosures, skids, or similar industrial systems. Previous leadership experience managing engineering teams. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly. Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office. Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or MBA. Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Experience supporting products used in mission-critical, utility, energy, industrial, or data center applications. Experience leading engineering process improvements and product standardization initiatives. What You'll Bring Strong technical leadership and mentoring abilities.
