Job Overview:

As a nationwide recruiter, I've got a Mobile Crane client in need of a Mechanical Engineer, in the greater Kansas City metro area. This is a full-time, direct-hire opportunity, in this specific geographic location! The ideal Mechanical Engineer candidate already lives in the area and brings knowledge of mobile cranes / custom fabrication / truck-builds. Below, are both the minimum requirements and the highly preferred requirements.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field. 2-4 years of experience in mechanical design, product engineering, or manufacturing engineering. Skilled in 3D CAD platforms (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) with the ability to produce clean, production-ready models, assemblies, and detailed drawings. Solid grounding in mechanical design fundamentals — statics, dynamics, materials, load and weight analysis, and supporting engineering calculations. Comfortable running feasibility assessments and applying sound engineering judgment to real-world build and manufacturing constraints. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with the organization and attention to detail to manage competing priorities. Clear technical communicator, equally effective working solo or across teams. Proficient with core Microsoft Office tools.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in mobile cranes, heavy equipment, material handling systems, truck-mounted builds, custom fabrication, or a comparable industrial product space. Working knowledge of fabrication and welding practices, hydraulics, structural design, and mobile equipment integration. Experience partnering with production teams to troubleshoot shop-floor design or build challenges. Exposure to design validation methods such as FMEA, root cause/corrective action, Lean, Six Sigma, or

ISO 9001. EIT
