This position is an excellent opportunity for someone currently pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree to gain hands-on engineering and manufacturing experience while completing their education. You'll work directly with engineering, production, and shop-floor personnel to create and maintain drawings used to manufacture real-world components, assemblies, tooling, and production fixtures. Pay & Benefits $18.00-$22.00 per hour, depending on experience Full-time or part-time opportunities available Flexible scheduling to accommodate college and class schedules Climate-controlled manufacturing facility Stable, established Wichita manufacturing company Hands-on engineering and manufacturing experience across multiple industries Benefits for eligible full-time employees include: 100% company-paid employee health insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid Time Off (PTO) program Paid holidays Responsibilities Interpret engineering sketches, conceptual layouts, and 2D and 3D CAD drawings for components, assemblies, tooling, and production fixtures Create, modify, and maintain engineering and manufacturing drawings using CAD software Ensure drawings accurately reflect manufacturing methods, material selections, tolerances, and assembly requirements Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) associated with drawings and assemblies Work directly with engineering, production, and shop-floor personnel to verify measurements, fit, and assembly feasibility Maintain drawing revision control and document management, including archiving superseded versions, updating revision blocks, and ensuring current drawings are properly released for manufacturing Incorporate engineering changes and shop-floor feedback into existing drawings Assist with documenting existing components and assemblies for replacement or reverse-engineering projects Maintain organized and accurate engineering documentation Qualifications & Skills Applicant should be actively working toward a degree in Mechanical Engineering Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and shop documentation Basic understanding of dimensional tolerances and manufacturing drawings Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organizational and documentation skills Ability to communicate and work effectively with engineering, production, and shop-floor personnel Willingness to learn manufacturing processes and apply engineering concepts in a real-world production environment Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities Schedule Full-time or part-time positions are available. This is a day-shift position with flexible scheduling for students. Carlson is willing to work around college and class schedules for candidates actively pursuing their Mechanical Engineering degree.
