Job Summary:
Our office in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to lead a fast-paced, multi-discipline team. Our Mechanical Engineers focus primarily on the design of building-related projects including multifamily, higher educational facilities, large commercial projects, retail and local government projects using Revit.
Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise, and provide guidance to a team of engineers Develop mechanical system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of market types Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing mechanical and plumbing systems Develop system design calculations and selection of equipment for use in buildings Write and edit project specifications Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies Perform code compliance research Coordinate work with other disciplines Provide construction administration services Perform QA/QC of design work Serve as the primary contact for clients Assist in the procurement of new work including the development of client relations and participation in project interviews
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Drafting 10+ years of experience in mechanical design PE License (preferred) Familiarity with codes, standards, and design guidelines Hands-on experience with the latest versions of Auto
CAD, REVIT, MS
Office, and engineering calculation and performance simulation software Team management experience (preferred)
Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in the face of shifting projects and deadlines A positive attitude with colleagues and clients Excellent oral and written communication skills
