Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement mechanical systems based on approved specifications and requirements. Participate in developing product requirements, specifications, schedules, and feasibility studies to assess functionality and reliability. Collaborate with project management and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot designs, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvements. Conduct and support product design, verification, and validation activities to meet project milestones. Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, data sheets, and validation records. Lead and participate in technical design reviews, recommending design changes as needed. Perform all phases of engineering design—from concept to detailed 3D modeling and structural analysis using SolidWorks. Review and assess vendor proposals and drawings to ensure design integrity and alignment with project goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET certified institution 5-10 years' experience in mechanical design 3 years' experience in SolidWorks or expert knowledge of other 3D CAD modeling systems; experience with COSMOS or SolidWorks Simulation software package Experience designing heavy structures, including tooling, material selection, and fabrication Knowledge of corrosion testing Experience developing products exposed to long term underwater environments strongly preferred Experience with subsystem integration and testing Ability to source vendors Understanding of machinery product design, verification, and validation Ability to read and understand scientific and technical documents
