Mechanical Design Engineer

Client develops and manufactures highly complex electro-mechanical assemblies for defense and commercial applications. We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill a position as Temporary Mechanical Design Engineer. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with expertise in SolidWorks to join our dynamic engineering team for 3-6 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating precise 3D models and detailed drawings for tooling and housings used across various applications. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and under direct supervision. Duties/ Responsibilities Utilize SolidWorks to create robust 3D models of complex mechanical systems, focusing on tooling, fixtures and housing components. Develop detailed drawings and specifications for manufacturing and assembly, ensuring all designs meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project objectives. Participate in prototype building and testing to validate designs and incorporate feedback. Work with vendors to obtain quotations on manufactured parts. Maintain comprehensive design documentation, including CAD files, technical reports, and change logs. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to facilitate project progress and resolve design challenges. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering with a focus on using SolidWorks. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software, including solid modeling, assembly creation, and detailed drawings. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials, with an emphasis on tools and housing components. Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Certifications:

SolidWorks certification (e.g., Certified SolidWorks Professional - CSWP) is a plus.
