The Fluid System Staff Engineer demonstrates leadership in the execution of business priorities, engaging globally and with industrial partners to develop advanced/emerging technologies and to support significant upgrades of fielded product lines. The Fluid System Staff Engineer is responsible for leading the proposal, development, integration, validation, certification/qualification of the engine's fluid systems and components for Military and Commercial applications. These fluid systems and components include the Pumps, Hydromechanical units, filters, actuators and valve systems. As Fluid System Staff Engineer, you will be involved in development of fluid component/systems over full product design cycle (concept to new product introduction) for use in turbofan turbojet and turboshaft turboprop engine controls for customers such as Airbus, Boeing, Sikorsky, Bell and Leonardo helicopter as well as the US Army/Navy/Airforce, and other foreign military customers. In addition, you will be responsible to address critical field, manufacturing, and production issues related to engine's fluid systems and components. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for Fluid components on Turbofan and Rotorcraft engines. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market. Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Lead the execution of component and/or subsystem development projects to implement upgrades and improvements on fielded control systems fluid products. Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks. Lead supplier and purchase service engineering teams to develop and qualify new Fluid Systems hardware design and test. Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to product and customer issues. Support of field investigations and lead the related fluid system and component investigations. Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, vendor substantiation, schedules and contract commitments. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
