Job Description
Design & Release Engineer - Underbody Structures Overview / Summary We are seeking a Design & Release Engineer to support the design and release of underbody structure components. This role will be responsible for delivering body structure components and subsystems from start to finish and supporting ongoing product development through production. The components include front structure, dash cowl, floor panels, and reinforcements. The role involves sheet metal structure component design and release using steel and aluminum. Key Responsibilities Design and release underbody structure components made from steel and aluminum. Deliver body structure components and subsystems from start to finish. Support ongoing product development through production. Confirm new-source supplier part feasibility through APQP. Evaluate stamping and assembly feasibility and work with suppliers to ensure parts and assemblies are feasible. Maintain and keep the FedeBOM up to date for responsible components. Follow physical acceptance testing of parts to ensure requirements are met. Perform engineering calculations and work with CAE groups to deliver required part functions for different attributes. Manage part changes through applicable design and release systems. Present changes and lead discussions in Change Control meetings. Complete required documentation associated with engineering changes. Own assigned structure components through the design and maintenance lifecycle. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Experience with APQP, including supplier part feasibility and stamping/assembly feasibility. Experience with AVBOM/FedeBOM and maintaining component information. Experience supporting acceptance testing of physical parts. Ability to perform engineering calculations and analytical work. Experience working with CAE groups to support part functionality. Experience with change management and change control processes. Experience owning components through the design and maintenance lifecycle.
