Job Description

Overview The Tooling Engineer is responsible for overseeing the outsourced design, development and fabrication of production stamping dies and check fixtures used in the manufacturing process and communicating this information to our internal team to ensure launch success and effectiveness. Responsibilities 1.
Tooling Procurement and Management:
o Specify and procure stamping tooling and components as directed by program APQP needs. o Work with our internal team and our suppliers and vendors to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness. o Manage initial tooling inventory setup information. o Secure quotes for stamping tooling in support of our ECR Quote process. o Coordinate with external tooling manufacturers and service providers as needed to support program launches as well as any required die related engineering changes or refurbishment projects. 2.
Project Management:
o Coordinate and lead outsourced tooling design reviews, including new product launches, engineering changes and process improvements. o Develop project plans, timelines and budgets for tooling projects. o Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals and deadlines are met as they relate to the design, build and buyoff of stamping dies. 3.
Tool Design and Development:
o Collaborate with product designers and engineers to ensure tooling designs meet product and process requirements. o Utilize CAD software to create detailed designs and prototypes. o Design and develop tooling to meet production requirements and specifications. 4.
Process Support:
o Support production by providing technical expertise on tooling-related matters. o Develop and implement companywide Die Standards for tooling design, builds and maintenance that lead to robust, long-term successful die life. o Provide training to manufacturing personnel on proper tooling operation and care. 5.
Quality Assurance:
o Ensure tooling meets quality standards and statutory and regulatory requirements. o Analyze product layout inspection reports and capabilities studies to verify tooling performance and product conformity and stamping process repeatability. o Analyze tooling performance data and implement corrective actions as needed. 6.
Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain detailed documentation of tooling designs, modifications and maintenance activities. o Prepare and present reports on tooling performance, project status and improvement initiatives. o Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in tooling operations. Experience Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of experience in a Tooling Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer or Program Management role where progressive dies were the focus. Experience with progressive stamping and associated processes. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, quality control and GD&T. Proficiency in CAD software and statistical analysis tools. Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
