Job Description

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Tooling II to lead the complete lifecycle management, design, development, and shop floor implementation of production tooling and workholding solutions. Focusing heavily on CNC machining operations, this role directly owns tool and fixture design for complex castings and precision defense components used in U.S. Army tracked combat vehicles. You will work hand-in-hand with internal production, testing, and quality teams to ensure seamless manufacturing processes with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities Tooling Lifecycle Ownership:
Manage the full tooling lifecycle—from initial concept, blueprint review, CAD design, and build to testing validation, shop floor release, and modifications.
CAD/CAM Design & PLM:
Utilize Siemens NX and Teamcenter to design, specify, and manage CAD models, assembly drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and configuration controls for fixtures and cutting tools.
Workholding & Fixturing:
Design robust manual and hydraulic clamping systems, multi-axis CNC fixtures, CMM fixtures, and inspection tooling for complex aluminum and steel castings (housings, covers, gears).
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner directly with shop floor machinists, quality engineers, and dedicated testing teams to troubleshoot tooling issues, perform root-cause analysis, and execute engineering changes.
NPI & Sourcing:
Support New Product Introductions (NPI) by qualifying tooling with internal teams and external vendor suppliers to meet strict production volume, safety, and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to optimize cycle times, extend tool life, enhance ergonomics, and reduce overall unit manufacturing costs.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Manufacturing & Machining Experience:
5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing processes, specifically with CNC turning and milling operations.
Fixture & Tooling Design:
5+ years of proven expertise in fixture design for complex metal components, workholding principles, and manual/hydraulic clamping systems.
CAD/PLM Proficiency:
Strong proficiency in CAD software (Siemens NX strongly preferred) and experience managing data within PLM systems (Siemens Teamcenter preferred).
Inspection & Quality Tools:
Experience designing CMM fixtures, inspection tooling, and working with Quality Engineering on Gage R&R and dimensional control.
Blueprints & GD&T:
Advanced capability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T.
Soft Skills & Process Improvement:
Hands-on problem solver with strong cross-functional communication and experience in Lean/Six Sigma practices.
Pay:
$110,000.00 per year
