Job Description
Position OverviewWe're a world class manufacturer of Machine Tools that's been named a Top Workplace by USA Today 3 years in a row! We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, integrate, test, and optimize electromechanical systems and machine tools. The role is focused on mechanical design from concept through production: creating 2D and 3D CAD models, producing BOMs, performing validation testing, troubleshooting and conducting root cause analyses, and driving continuous improvement to meet performance, cost, schedule, and regulatory requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical design and development of electromechanical systems and machine tools, including detailed 2D and 3D CAD modeling and drawing issuance.
Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications, and manufacturing documentation to support production and procurement.
Plan and execute prototype and production testing, validation, and commissioning activities; analyze test data to verify design performance.
Investigate failures and field issues using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical issues across design, prototype, and production stages to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
Work with sourcing and procurement to qualify components and suppliers; evaluate alternate components for cost, lead time, and risk.
Design and optimize components and assemblies for manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability; support CNC machining and machine tool design efforts.
Ensure designs and processes comply with relevant industry standards and regulations (ANSI, ISO) and maintain thorough engineering documentation and change control.
QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.3+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience; experience in machine tool design, CNC systems, or electromechanical product development strongly preferred.
Proven ability with 2D CAD and 3D CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and producing manufacturing drawings.
Experience creating and maintaining BOMs.
Strong background in testing, validation, troubleshooting, and conducting Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).Familiarity with component sourcing, supplier evaluation, and procurement practices.
Knowledge of electromechanical integration, motors, drives, sensors, and control interfaces.
Experience designing for manufacturability and working with CNC machining processes.
Familiarity with ANSI and ISO standards and experience maintaining design documentation and change control.
