Job Description

Holtec International is seeking a Thermal-Hydraulics Test Engineer III to support the validation of thermal-hydraulic performance for safety-related and non-safety-related systems as part of the SMR-300 design certification and commercialization effort. This role is integral to ensuring that thermal-hydraulic test programs are technically rigorous, properly documented, aligned with design and licensing objectives, and executed in accordance with applicable quality and safety requirements. The Thermal-Hydraulics Test Engineer III will serve as a recognized technical contributor within the testing organization and will be responsible for leading major portions of complex test programs, functional areas across multiple programs, or simpler test programs in their entirety. This position requires strong technical judgment, the ability to work independently on complex assignments, and the ability to integrate inputs from design engineering, analysis, licensing, quality assurance, vendors, and test sponsors. The successful candidate will develop test requirements, plans, procedures, specifications, data analysis methods, and technical reports that support design validation, model development, regulatory engagement, and commercialization of Holtec's SMR technology. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers, improving test methods and tools, and helping establish robust practices for thermal-hydraulic test planning, execution, documentation, and data quality.
Location:
Camden, NJ with occassional travel to Idaho Falls up to 25%.
Requirements:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline. 6 to 10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in laboratory testing, thermal-hydraulics, nuclear systems, fluid systems, heat transfer, or test engineering environments. Demonstrated experience planning, executing, and documenting engineering test programs. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, system descriptions, design specifications, and analysis requirements. Experience translating design, analysis, or licensing needs into test requirements, test plans, procedures, specifications, and acceptance criteria. Experience with thermal-hydraulic instrumentation, data acquisition systems, calibration practices, and data quality controls. Experience performing data reduction, analysis, uncertainty evaluation, visualization, and interpretation of engineering test data. Experience working in a QA-controlled, safety-related, or highly regulated engineering environment. Ability to independently resolve complex technical issues and provide timely, well-supported engineering recommendations. Experience with instrumentation selection for pressure, temperature, flow, level, differential pressure, heat flux, void fraction, or two-phase flow measurements. Experience applying relevant industry codes and standards to engineering design, test facility setup, instrumentation, equipment selection, or test execution. Ability to support on-site testing, extended test campaigns, commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and occasional travel. Strong technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to present technical results, test status, and engineering conclusions to internal stakeholders, external partners, clients, or regulators.
Preferred Qualifications:
