Senior Engineer -
Modeling & Simulation Location:
Mahwah, NJ About the Role We are advancing the way orthopaedic implants and surgical procedures are designed and evaluated through industry‑leading modeling and simulation technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer to develop and apply innovative simulation methodologies that support next‑generation implant designs, manufacturing processes, and surgical procedures. In this role, you will work at the intersection of engineering, research, and product development, contributing analytical insight that drives informed design and technology decisions. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive literature reviews to support analytical methods and modeling assumptions Execute static and dynamic nonlinear multibody finite element analyses, including: Deformable contact Advanced material properties Multi‑physics simulations for realistic in‑vivo kinematics and manufacturing processes Develop new simulation techniques and implement automation through custom programming as needed Analyze and interpret results, recommending design, process, or material improvements Develop and validate analytical models to address research‑driven questions Author high‑quality technical documentation, including: Internal technical reports Documentation supporting regulatory submissions (e.g., 510(k)) Abstracts and manuscripts for industry conferences and peer‑reviewed journals Collaborate on cross‑functional teams to develop next‑generation technologies and devices Evaluate competitive technologies to inform innovative, customer‑focused solutions Partner with clinical advisors to incorporate clinical input into technology development Review, select, and coordinate modeling and simulation research with external universities and laboratories Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline 2+ years of experience in modeling and simulation‑based research within the medical device industry or equivalent experience Preferred Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering Experience with: Finite element analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, LS‑DYNA) CAD software (e.g., Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks) Custom programming (e.g., Fortran, MATLAB, Python) Musculoskeletal simulation tools (e.g., OpenSim) Ability to contribute to discovery‑based research from concept through final recommendation Strong understanding of mechanics, engineering principles, emerging technologies, and product development processes Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative analytical, process, or material solutions in a research environment Why Join Us You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting‑edge technologies that directly impact patient outcomes, collaborate with multidisciplinary experts, and contribute to meaningful innovation in the medical device space. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Mahwah, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $66.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
